Christopher T. Taylor


Chris was born on October 16, 1974 in Los Angeles, California to Leonard and Johnetta Taylor. He was a drummer in the Carson High School Band and graduated in 1992.

Chris was proud to serve a Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) Officer out of Session 45. Before becoming an officer, Chris was a production assistant for Cumulus Broadcasting primarily working for their flagship station WQQK (92Q). While there he produced the Tom Joyner Morning Show, did fill in shifts as an on-air personality and commercial production for many clients. His production work continued throughout the years.

Chris graduated from Tennessee State University with a BS in Speech Communication and theatre in 1997. It was there that he pledged the awesome Zeta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Incorporated in 1995. He was also a member of the Thomas Edward Poag Players Guild and served as president of the TSU National Pan Hellenic Council. He was honored to be a member of the TSU Cheerleading Team as the Tiger Mascot.

Chris transitioned to his heavenly home on December 1, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Neysa; daughters, Asyen and Maya; sons, Preston and Patrick; parents, Leonard and Johnetta; sister, Danielle; nephew, Timothy; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, extended family and friends that loved him.

Visitation will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 9, 2019, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2261 Murfreesboro Rd., with T.E. Poag Service at 11:30 am and Phi Beta Sigma Service to follow. Memorial Service at Noon. Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III, Pastor.
